Engañar a la máquina
Como parte de un programa para evitar el consumo de tabaco entre menores de edad, el Tobacco Institute of Japan (TIOJ) habilitó máquinas expendedoras de cigarrillos con un equipo de reconocimiento facial, cuya cámara es capaz de detectar arrugas u otros defectos en la piel ocasionados por el envejecimiento; al comparar la imagen con una base de datos deduce la edad del cliente, y si este tiene más de 20 años –la mayoría de edad en aquel país– la venta del producto es aprobada. Sin embargo, un astuto reportero encontró la manera de burlar el sistema: mostró a la cámara una revista con la fotografía de un adulto.
El TIOJ probó desde 2007 el uso de una tarjeta habilitada con chip de radiofrecuencia (tecnologia RFID) llamado Taspo, en la que se identifica al portador como mayor de edad y sirve como monedero electrónico para comprar paquetes de cigarrillos. En caso de que el usuario no cuente con la tarjeta, se le identificará con la cámara. Sin embargo el error descubierto por el reportero puede obligar a retirar las 4,000 máquinas distribuidas en el país.

Bueno el problema se resuelve muy facil, que habiliten la maquina para tomer una foto de frente y dos de perfil, eso deberia ser suficiente, desde luego no faltaria el joven inquieto que conseguiria las fotos de algun pariente pero siempre que lo haga el fotografiado en cuestion sospecharia del prposito.
