Para ahorrar energía, la Unión Europea dio inicio a la sustitución de los típicos focos de 100 watts con filamento incendescente. Bajo la nueva ley, queda prohibido a partir de este martes primero de septiembre la venta e importación de estas bombillas, para ser reemplazadas por lámparas fluorescentes de larga duración o halógenas, que se estima consumen 80% menos energía. Aunque seguirán usándose en los hogares, la disponibilidad de estos artefactos se mantendrá únicamente hasta agotar las existencias disponibles. La Comisión Europea estima que las bombillas desaparezcan en un plazo de tres años, esto a pesar de la resistencia de algunos sectores de la ciudadanía alegando que la iluminación que proporcionan las nuevas lámparas no es la ideal para realizar sus actividades nocturnas, que pueden afectar la estética del interior de los hogares, la experiencia de la lectura o incluso causar estrés. De hecho las nuevas lámparas han sido criticadas por los materiales con los que están hechas, que incluyen mercurio, lo que implica tener un cuidado extra al momento de manejarlas. Los focos de 60 watts tendrán vigencia hasta el año 2011, y los de 40 watts al 2012.

Es cierto lo que dice en cuanto a la estetica de los hogares,pero creo q es más importante la cnservación de la energia q asuntos de estetica.
Y dónde desecharlas?… se arregla un problema pero se crea otro?
